tiniest creatures

INSECTOMANIA

immense beauty

The natural world has always been a source of inspiration for arts and crafts:
the beauty, variety and complexity of plants, animals and landscapes are an inexhaustible source of fascination, amazement, symbolism and inspiration.

With gentleness and a touch of fun, this collection is a wish to find new ways of interacting with insects.

Focusing on the beauty of these tiny creatures, Insectomania tries to instill admiration and curiosity instead of fear and revulsion.

If we take a closer look at these tiny creatures, after an initial moment of fear and disgust, we will realize how beautiful and ingenious they are. That admiration can be an initial reason to challenge our imagination and find an alternative way of interacting with insects.

I imagined insects interacting with our bodies, travelling with us as passengers on our fingers, dancing around our necks, delicately climbing our ears or lending us their antennae to try and be more sensitive.

All the insects in the collection are small sculptures made using the lost wax technique, through a slow and delicate piece-by-piece construction work in wax.
No animals were mistreated or imprisoned for this project, all references for the insects come from entomology books or other works of art.
